Bel Ombre seduces with its wide lagoon, wild landscapes and low crowds compared to other spots on the island. Bordered by a natural beach and surrounded by lush mountains, the spot offers a peaceful environment where kitesurfing is practised in the midst of nature.

🎯 Level
Bel Ombre is suitable for accompanied beginners as well as intermediate and experienced kitesurfers. The shallow water areas near the shore are perfect for learning, although the wind can be a little strong for the first few independent runs.
More experienced riders will appreciate the great freedom of navigation in the lagoon, as well as the possibility of going for waves offshore.
🌬️ Ideal wind conditions
Bel Ombre benefits from southeasterly trade winds, well established between May and October. The wind is generally side-shore to side-onshore and oscillates between 16 and 26 knots during the dry season.
Outside this period, the wind becomes more irregular, but sessions are still possible, particularly on foils or with a big kite.
🗓️ Best season
The ideal season for kiting in Bel Ombre runs from May to October, during the austral winter. Winds are most constant and temperatures mild.
In summer (from November to March), the wind is lighter but the spot remains rideable, especially in the late afternoon when a thermal breeze picks up.
🛟 Safety
The lagoon is relatively safe, but you should watch out for the tides. At low tide, some corals are flush; at high tide, the bottoms become deeper and the current can strengthen slightly towards the passes.
It's advisable to wear neoprene booties for protection from coral, and to sail with caution near rocky areas.
